The performances are brilliant. This is a great credit to the director, who let the actresses, work.
So let's get this out of the way. Viola Davis should be given every award on the planet, and others should be invented and given to her. As true a performance as I have seen in a long, long time.
Octavia Spencer. Same. Stellar performance. Hand these two ladies every possible award and recognition right now. They are that good. No, better than that good.
Cicely Tyson. Transcendent. It is one of those moments where every second she is on screen, you cannot take your eyes off of her.
The story. As well written as you are going to get. Ever.
Emma Stone. She brought her A game. She had no choice. to keep up with the other ladies who delivered stellar performances.
The physicality that Ms. Davis, Ms. Spencer and Ms. Tyson brought to their characters is masterful.
Direction. It is excellent when we are able to experience this level of talent. Give the director whatever he wants. Top shelf.
Overall, a superb film.
